Education
Education is the Key
All too often, people acquire a parrot on impulse, knowing very little about sharing their lives with a pet bird. The Pet Industry Joint Advisory Council estimates that the average parrot will have seven homes during its lifetime. These birds can live up to four times the lifespan of a cat or a dog, and there are far fewer parrot rescue organizations compared to dog and cat rescues. This is the reason for CPR's existence.
How can we combat this problem? Education! All potential parrot owners should take advantage of every opportunity available to learn about living with parrots.
